One Day Tournaments Launch in SC

For many players finding a whole weekend to devote to tournaments can be tough.  With that in mind, USTA SC has created a new division of One-Day Tournaments.  These events use short-set scoring, no-ad, and limited divisions to get a whole tournament's worth of play into just one day.
With round robin draws, the tournaments will feature either doubles and mixed doubles, singles and doubles, or singles and mixed doubles.  This guarantees players at least two matches and allows for entrants to get lots of tennis in, without overwhelming amounts of play.
The One-Day Tournaments are a great way to get busy players into tournament play, introduce new tournament players to the thrill of adult competition, or even provide an exciting end to a series of lessons.
There are already two events sanctioned for 2010, and One-Day Tournaments can be sanctioned at any time.  On September 25 Lexington Tennis Center will host the Love for a Cure charity tournament, and Snee Farm will host a one-day tournament as well.
For more information on the rules of One-Day Tournaments, click here.  If you would like to have a One-Day Tournament sanctioned at your facility, just contact Jamie Peebles at peebles@sctennis.com.
