Hometown: Fort Mill, SC
Junior, Class of 2013
What is your favorite part about tennis? "I love being able to compete and push myself to get better every day."
Who are your favorite players? "Justin Henin and Kim Clisters. These two players are really great competitors and display such good sportsmanship."
What do you always keep in your tennis bag?
"My tennis bag contains my Wilson racquets, string, a "first aid" bag, grips, snacks, towels, balls, a notebook, (many times a rotten banana -ha!), extra socks, hand warmers."
What is your favorite SC Junior Tournament to play in?
"My favorite SC tennis tournament is probably Belton. The snow cones are my favorite part because they are so refreshing after a match."
What is your most memorable moment? "I‘ve had many memorable moments, but my favorite was playing with Matt Mendez in mixed doubles and winning the match to capture the zonals championship. I was also voted sportsmanship winner for the southern section at that zonals and that was a huge honor."
Who or what has been your biggest inspiration? "I am inspired by all the other great junior players. When I see another junior perform well, it makes me want to work harder and continue to improve. Even though we compete against each other, we really want only the best for one another."
Do you have any thoughts on playing college tennis? If so, do you have any schools in mind? "My goal is to play college tennis. It would be my dream to play for an SEC/ACC team."
What advice would you give a younger player? "I would first say, "winning isn’t everything". It is so much more important to develop your game than to win every match."
