National Recreation and Parks Association Seasonal Pro Grant:  In 2003, the USTA and our partner National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) is providing to park and recreation agencies another opportunity to grow tennis on public courts.  The USTA will fund up to 50 public tennis facilities, in the amount of $5000 each, to hire a certified teaching professional to work between May and September.  The professionals funded by the USTA will promote and direct tennis programming, primarily for USA Team Tennis.

The NRPA has sent this information out to its state associations, included an article in the December issue of Parks and Recreation Magazine and has mailed information to park and recreation agencies that have indicated and interest in growing their tennis programming.  Please encourage your park and recreation contacts to apply for this funding to employ a certified teaching professional.  You many find the application and more information on the NRPA website, http://www.nrpa.org/, look at the fourth story down on the home page and click the story for more information and the application.

The deadline is coming up on March 7, 2003 and all applications must be sent back to the NRPA.

Please pass this information on to all those in your office and your network to get this information out.  Thank you!!!
